Description
I'm a bassist in High Point looking to get a band together with a couple of guitarists, a drummer, a singer, and possibly someone on keyboard/samples.
Some of my influences are Spacemen 3, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine (UK), Can, Mogwai, Kinski, Acid Mothers Temple, Ghost, Pelican, Circle, and The Cardigans.
I'm looking to use this time to make some connections with people who are interested.
If I find a logical group of people for the band, we can proceed from there.
I'm not opposed to meeting up for coffee in the meanwhile to get acquainted.
In regards to this band, I need:
- No superegos
- No alcoholics or people addicted to hard stuff
- No racists or sexists
- Nobody who is overly argumentative
- Nobody who has too many obligations (i.e. can't take the time to practice once per week)
- No grandiose expectations
- Shows respect to others
I just want to hang out, make some new friends, experiment with some riffs, and see where it goes.
I want to make good, catchy songs... not a bunch of prog, all over the fretboard kind of material.
Some of the best songs of all time are extremely simple.
I am not opposed to it being completely instrumental. Singers often make or break the band... and a good one is hard to replace.
Anyways, the main reason I want to do it is to have fun and play the occasional show.
A little background on me... going to be 40-years-old this year; no felonies... LOL; been playing bass for over 20 years, been in numerous kinds of bands, have eclectic tastes, am laid-back, booked shows for 10 years in the DC/MD/VA area, have experience with recording/mixing/mastering; do art and am well-versed in Photoshop; have silkscreened t-shirts and releases for past bands, have built websites for past bands; proud of what I have accomplished, but not conceded about it; focused on what I want to accomplish now and in the future.
