Phoenix PD Make Arrest In 1984 Cold Case

PHOENIX, AZ — A 1984 murder case reached a conclusion Saturday when Phoenix police made an arrest. The Phoenix Police Department arrested David Kizziar, 67, for the murder of 22-year-old Aimee See, according to a department news release. See was found dead on Feb. 17, 1984. An anonymous caller led police to an abandoned building on North Third Avenue for a possible fire. An initial search didn't reveal any evidence of a fire, but officers did find the body of a woman with "significant blunt force trauma." The case eventually went cold but changes in technology allowed investigators to periodically review the case. Detectives ordered forensic processing in 2012, which didn't develop any new leads. The news release said that it all changed in the fall of this year, when investigators were able to find a DNA match from the scene. That DNA led to the arrest of Kizziar on Saturday at 10 a.m. He has been arrested and booked for See's murder. The department has made an effort in recent months to publicize cold cases with a new video series called "Hot Desert, Cold Cases" in the hopes of solving years-old murders.
