Description

His original music inspires the listener with the resounding sincerity of his genuine soprano voice and searing lyrics. Corey Layne's roots from East Tennessee have greatly influenced his music as a country singer-songwriter. Inspired by his grandfather who had played the Grand Ole Opry, Corey’s music is heartfelt and emotional. His work covers the gamut of personal struggle and loss to finding happiness and love. His original music inspires the listener with the resounding sincerity of his genuine soprano voice and searing lyrics. Performing as early as age five and writing music as a pre-teen he has been focused on honing his music skills as a writer, singer, and musician. By 2003, he won an international singing competition, held at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. In 2010, he began traveling to sing background vocals with several prominent gospel artists. A few years later, he signed his first record deal with MD Records. While traveling to promote his first album, Corey, hit rock bottom after a near-death car accident. He says, “This was the lowest point of my life until recently when I contracted COVID 19 and was hospitalized. Though I had a strong faith, the accident and its aftermath made me question everything. What gave me solace was believing there had to be a purpose in life for God to have given me this talent and the belief that I had something to offer country music fans. As it turns out, it was music that proved to be the most healing medicine of all. In 2017 after rehab, Corey became singularly focused on his talent as a writer - putting to words and music his struggles. You can hear some of that story in Corey's first single that was released in December 2019, appropriately titled, "Cold December". In 2020, he signed with Empire Artist Management and released “Stay With Me” later that year, which was co-written with hit songwriter and multi-platinum-selling music producer, Steve Freeman. “Corey doesn’t sound like everyone else in Nashville, which is what initially drew me to him,” Freeman said. “The real, rawness of his voice just cuts through and makes you want to listen. ”He's well on his way as he continues to garner attention from notable country artists, including Darryl Worley, who often played benefit concerts hosted by Corey's parents back in his hometown. Most recently after the release of his new single, Excuse Me, and soon after making a change to a new PR/Marketing company and a new music direction in artist management, Corey was diagnosed with COVID and double pneumonia, Corey says that this life-threatening illness forced him once again, to pause his music and promotional efforts to heal his body. Battling COVID was rough, but his spirit and will to finish what he started is stronger, and as Corey says, Life is what happens and the well I draw from to write music that I hope will inspire others and bring enjoyment for years to come. Look for more good music to follow in 2021 both in releases and a live performance in his hometown of South Pittsburg in November. In other words, stay tuned.
