55-piece orchestra presents all Russian program The program includes Tchaikovsky's Overture Romeo and Juliet, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. These two great masterpieces of classical music are easy to listen to and connected to the famous stories - “Romeo and Juliet” and “1000 Arabian Nights”. Our concert program has a detailed description of each movement, and our on-stage storyteller will be guiding the audience through the wonderful and exciting experience of this concert, making sure everyone in the audience knows what the music is about. Led by Pacific Lyric Association's Artistic Director Alexandra Keegan, this orchestra brings young professionals from all Southern California and experienced PLA orchestra players together, and prepares students for their careers in major symphonies. Twelve experienced professional musicians, who are the PLAYS mentors, will be performing side-by-side with our students. The artistic mission of the Pacific Lyric Association Youth Symphony (PLAYS) is to present classical music in its original and traditional form, yet deliver it in an innovative manner that is appealing and entertaining to newcomers and young audiences.
