The Montgomery Community Baby Shower is an educational and supportive event with the mission of dissemination of information to advance the awareness of minority mothers while supporting their needs. This event will target 100-150 expectant minority mothers.
This event will host a panel discussion of healthcare practitioners, public health professionals, and other community members with experience and expertise in working with minority mothers.
Topics to be discussed will include:
Minority maternal and child health risk factorsPrenatal and infant health, development, and safetyDismantle pregnancy and childrearing mythsBreastfeeding and its benefitsHealthy eating and physical activityInfant prematurityImpact of smoking, alcohol, and prescription drug useOther general healthcare informationAttendees of this event will have an opportunity to access other resources and vendors geared toward improving their overall well-being and self-sufficiency as new mothers.
