VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Students and staff from Vestavia Hills City Schools were recognized by the Vestavia Hills Board of Education this week for recent accomplishments. The recognition was based on the counselors' work to align VHHS counseling services with the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools and the American School Counseling Association National Model. Edyth May Sliffe Award winner: Vestavia Hills High School math teacher Susan Gifford was named one of the winners of the 2020 Edyth May Sliffe Award in September. The award, given annually by the Mathematical Association of America, recognizes distinguished math teachers in middle and high school for their commitment to encourage students to experience math through interesting and engaging activities.
