HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Another national retail chain is shutting down, along with its half dozen locations in the Hudson Valley. The well-known stationary store Papyrus is reportedly closing all of its stores across the country, according to Fortune. For the Hudson Valley, that means six Papyrus stores in will shut down. The following locations will be closing: White Plains: The WestchesterScarsdale: Vernon Hills Shopping CenterRye: Purchase StreetYonkers: Ridge HillBronxville: Pondfield RoadWest Nyack: Palisades Center MallThe company, which once had 450 locations, is down to 260 stores, which are currently in liquidation. Papyrus hadn't issued a formal statement announcing the closings as of Tuesday, Fortune reported, but the website now state that all sales are final and no returns or guarantees will be honored. A 20 percent off storewide sale was also happening on the Papyrus website. The chain also sells greeting cards and gift wrap. It is one of several national retailers that recently announced they'd be closing down or scaling back their stores. Most recently, home furnishings chain Pier 1 announced it would shut down 450, or about half, of its locations. Clothing brand Forever 21 is also expected to close four of its Hudson Valley spots this year. And, Dressbarn, which had been around for 60 years, announced late last year that it would close all 650 of its stores, including 10 in the Hudson Valley.
