Description

In Naugatuck, a utility company Tritec Americas, LLC is planning to build a solar farm in a residential zoning area. They have applied for a special use permit outside of the allowed zoning use, called “R-30” to destroy 12,000 acres of forest land to build a large solar farm in a single family residence district. This will have a negative impact on all families in the area, and will devalue the properties and the fabric of the neighborhood. Additionally, independent local studies shows the well-water supply will be affected because the solar panel array will have a swale bounding it and draining water away into a catch basin. And lastly, a pending study is evaluating what other harmful byproducts used to manufacture the solar cells would be leaching into our well water? This must be stopped. The Naugatuck Zoning Commission should reject this proposal.
