Press release from the Osseo Area Schools ISD 279: February 3, 2022 Maple Grove Senior High School sophomore Avery Ruegsegger took home two gold medals at the IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships, Nov. 12-13, at Club Ski Del Polo in El Marques, Queretaro, Mexico. Ruegsegger, the only representative from Minnesota on the U.S. Wakeboard team, contributed to help the team win the gold medal with a total of 685 points. Besides the overall team gold medal, seven U.S. wakeboard athletes won medals, including five gold, in respective divisions. Divisions of competition were U14 Boys/Girls, Junior (U18) Men/Women, Masters (Over 30) Men/Women, Veteran (Over 40) Men/Women and Open Men/Women. Athletes were scored on execution, intensity and composition. Ruegsegger won the gold medal in the Junior Women division with 70 points, 10 points more than the next competitor.
