The amended order extends the grace period until March 31, 2021. The order was issued due to coronavirus concerns, along with the implications to health and sanitation for citizens who otherwise might be without working water, sewer or garbage collection.
"I know that families have extra financial strain and stress this holiday season because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," Maddox said. "In the spirit of the holiday season, I hope that we can alleviate this stress in a small way by extending this grace period into March."
March will mark a year since the grace period was initially implemented as part of the mayor's emergency directives addressing the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The order has been extended in 60-day increments since it was enacted.
