The department said in a press release Friday that McDavid was traveling east on University Boulevard when he suddenly veered across the center line and two lanes of oncoming westbound traffic before crashing into a concrete utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene and it is believed that he may have suffered from a medical condition that caused him to lose control of the truck.
The department's Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
