Understanding Medicinal Application of Plants Through the Senses
Did you know that the taste of an herb can tell you a lot about the therapeutic action & medicinal quality?
Did you know that no matter what medicinal plant you have at your fingertips that you alone can detect the medicinal qualities through taste, touch, smell & sensation?
If one is to study any form of herbalism it is essential to understand the plants in terms of their medicinal actions, energetics, organ system affinities & so on. Sounds overwhelming, no? So, where do you begin? How do you determine these qualities? Of course a good herbal book would be an excellent start but did you know you can determine a good deal of information about the therapeutic use of an herb by their taste? Yup! What’s great about building awareness & sensitivity to how an herb tastes is that it provides a superb platform of personal agency in how we understand & utilize herbal medicine but also provides a gateway toward empowerment & autonomy over your own health. Incredible, right?! This kind of discernment is integral to dismantling the one-size-fits-all perspective of most modern health or wellness paradigms. This interactive class will explore building awareness of how to best pair the body of a particular medicinal herb to the health & wellness goals of our own unique bodies. We will taste, touch & smell each plant that we discuss.
All participants will go home knowing the energetic quality (taste) & medicinal application of at least 5 different medicinal herbs.
Note: An Intro to Herbalism class is a recommended prerequisite but not required
