Description

Joan Waldman is officially no longer the principal of Rockville Centre's Watson Elementary School, and the district is now looking for her replacement. Waldman was relieved of her duties as principal on Sept. 16, shortly after the school year began, and has been on a leave of absence ever since. Last week, Superintendent Dr. William Johnson said that Waldman submitted her resignation to the Board of Education to retire, and the board accepted. Waldman officially retired on Feb. 29. Jen Pascarella, who has been the acting principal this year, has had her title changed to "interim principal" while the district searches for Waldman's replacement, Johnson said. The search is beginning immediately Waldman had been the head of the Watson School for years. Her removal was sudden, and the district still has not said what caused it. The district said it will not comment on matters related to personnel.
