Molloy College Receives $279,000 Federal Grant

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Molloy College has been awarded a $279,000 grant as part of a federal program designed to support academic development and degree completion. The funding was announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand as part of a funding effort for 37 New York colleges through the U.S. Department of Education's Student Support Services (SSS) program. The program supports low-income, first-generation and disabled college students, providing support and motivation to help them reach their academic goals. To be eligible for SSS programs, students must be enrolled in a degree program or accepted for enrollment into a degree program, must be receiving federal Pell Grants and must meet certain income or disability guidelines as established by the federal government. "I am pleased to announce that Molloy College has again received important support from the Federal Government to support students who are low-income, first generation, or those with disabilities," said James Lentini, Molloy's president. "The funding will be utilized to increase students' retention and graduation rates and to facilitate their transfer from two-year to four-year colleges, aligning with Molloy's commitment to student success."
