Description

This is the first Public Homebrew festival in NC since the laws changed in late 2019. BEST PRICED TICKETS can be found at www.lincolntonbrewersclub.com on the Western Carolinas Homebrew Festival Link at the top of the page. The Lincolnton Brewers’ Club, in collaboration with Communities in Schools of Lincoln County, is looking to hold The Western Carolina Homebrew Festival event April 30th, 2022 at Untapped Territory in Lincolnton, NC. Through this event we are inviting Homebrew clubs from Charlotte to the Western border of North Carolina, as well as the Upstate area of South Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. We want to invite people to this ticketed event to support not just the clubs, but also help support fundraising for a great cause in our community that has ties to members of our club. We plan to hold it in the exterior courtyard area in the back of Untapped Territory and will have a gated one-way entrance/ check in table, as well as an exit only gateway that will lead out to a local vendor area for festival goers to purchase homebrew equipment, if they feel inspired to start their own journey into homebrewing, if they haven’t already, or pick up some new equipment and supplies if they have. We will have part of Church Street, the street behind Untapped Territory, and plan to have food trucks in that area for patrons and festival goers to enjoy, as it will be outside of the closed off area of the homebrew festival. We do plan to have local law enforcement there to help with crowd control, as well as help keep an eye everyone is enjoying the festival responsibly. Volunteer off duty EMT will be there as well, just in case. We also have a local uber service that will be available to local patrons. For those travelling, we have local hotel information listed on the web page, as well as the Club Facebook page for those travelling to plan accordingly. We have been able to work out a discounted rate with a local hotel for festival goers to be able to get a discounted rate. We have also worked with Gaston College to have a small campsite available for Brewers to be able to bring a camper/ RV to and stay the night. We will be selling 750 tickets that will include a colored wristband (Red for Designated Drivers, Green for Festival Participants, and Blue for Volunteers/ Brewers). All Patrons will have to sign in at a check in booth at the entrance of the festival and have their ID’s checked before given a wristband or taster glass. With the purchased ticket, they will receive a 5oz tasting glass to use only for samples of the homebrew offered, a pencil, and a tasting sheet to go around the festival with. After each sample pour, a club member from their club’s booth will hole punch next to the listed sample the patron just tried. After the patron is done sampling, they will use the tasting sheet to mark 1 to 3 next to their top favorite samples and turn it in to a basket at the exit gate of the homebrew area. At the end of the festival, a crowd favorite will be selected and medals will be handed out to the top three brewers accordingly. We will have an early bird discounted sale prices, through the web page, and full price tickets at the door. A percentage of ticket sales will go towards Communities in Schools of Lincoln County. In the festival area, different clubs will be demonstrating different aspects of the homebrew process, as well as different techniques. We have all three native breweries of Lincoln County participating as vendors, who will offer a special “festival exclusive” brew. All vendors will be outside of the homebrew area, but inside the festival area, commercial brewers as well as equipment vendors. We have three bands that will play throughout the whole festival for patrons to enjoy. Communities in Schools will have a booth set up in the Vendor area as well to collect even more donations. With the portion of funds raised that will go to Communities in Schools of Lincoln County, NC, it will go towards helping children who are considered at risk. This program will use the funds to help continue to support these youth, and create access to critical resources, like food, housing, healthcare, and remote technologies so they can take charge of the future they want for themselves, their communities, and each other. We chose this non-profit to partner with due to a connection to the program through previous, and current Brew Club Members involvement. Our overall hope for this event is to raise funds for a great local cause that members of our club are involved with, spark an interest in those people that maybe see homebrewing as overwhelming and not sure where to begin, and boost memberships in all the clubs involved at the festival, since several dissolved during Covid. We want to help revive interest in a hobby that has a creative, helpful sense of community, while at the same time help raise funds for a local entity that is just as community driven.
