Let's Fight Food Insecurity with Project 658
Not being able to put food on the table continues to affect at least 50 million Americans. According to WCNC Charlotte, Pre Covid-19, local food banks fed enough people to fill the Bank of America Stadium pre-COVID. By November of 2020 the number went beyond 100,000.”
This year, we are again partnering with Project 658 to help the community that we love by organizing a Food Drive. Project 658 is a ministry in East Charlotte, serving the international refugee and immigrant community. They offer wrap around services, from English classes to medical care to ensure every member of the family is cared for. In 2020 and 2021, because of the pandemic, they saw a major uptick in food insecurity among their clients. Through a combination of a hot meal program and a food pantry style distribution process, families are able to turn to Project 658 for meal assistance. They collect food donations from the community and make sure it goes directly into the homes of those in need.
The most needed items are non-perishables such as canned goods, rice, beans, soups, dried pastas, peanut butter, dried potatoes, cereal, granola bars, canned vegetables, etc.
Would you be willing to help by giving a donation? Every food item will help. Harris Teeter is known for their Buy One Get One, 10 for $10 and the mega deal Buy 2 Get 3 free.
On Wednesday March 2nd & Thursday March 3rd from 8:00AM - 6:00PM, the Fagan Family Headquarters will be the drop off location for any donations. 4727 Sentinel Post Road Charlotte, NC 28226. You can simply drop off your items on our front porch or ring the bell and say Hi if you would like to.
