Description
Environment Washington is hiring canvassers to help us in our efforts to save Puget Soundsβ resident orca population. These Orcas are critically endangered with less than 75 left. These animals are not only intelligent and beautiful, they also play a key role in the PNW ecosystem. The main contributing factor to the extinction of the orca is the near extinction of their main food supply, the Chinook Salmon. The salmon are a symbol of Washington and have been present in this area's ecosystem for millennia. We can turn back this tide of extinction by restoring their spawning grounds on the Lower Snake River if we remove four dams in Eastern Washington. These dams prevent salmon from being able to use the Lower Snake River as spawning grounds, which prevents them from reproducing. Together we can bring back the Salmon and Orca populations and right the wrongs of Washingtonβs past. We need your help, so apply to work on this important campaign today!
