Pour a drink, grab a snack and settle in for an exciting night of sipping and swirling Storytelling Series: Stories of Love Friday, February 4 • When was the last time that a story transported you into another world? Join us as our tellers get up on stage and tell their tales of love lost and love gained. Storytellers of the Round Table and The Elephant Showcase Storytellers bring you stories in the oral tradition. Captivating, spellbinding, and entertaining and featuring featuring Dr. Joel Ying, Mary Lou Williams, Rhonda Brazina and Marilyn Graham. Outdoor Bluegrass Concert (Frank Corso & Sandy Back Porch) Sunday, February 6 • Join fellow bluegrass music lovers for great live music by bands from southwest Florida and beyond! Our popular Palmgrass bluegrass concerts are always a toe-tapping good time. Collage and Mixed Media (Ages 16+) Mondays, February 7 – 28 • In this four week course, students will be exposed to various mixed media techniques with an emphasis on collage. This will be a fun and experimental class for anyone who wants to try but doesn't know how to go about it. It will also have relevance for the seasoned artist who wants to try something different. Share the Love: Dueling Pianos Dinner Under the Stars Monday, February 14 • This Valentine's Day, share the love and enjoy an interactive outdoor dueling piano concert with a catered buffet dinner benefiting two great organizations: the Alliance for the Arts and Our Mother's Home. Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner, dessert, entertainment and a champagne toast. Outside Mullingar by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Bill Taylor Performances February 17 – 27 • A "softhearted comedy freckled with dark reflections" (The New York Times) by the author of Moonstruck and Doubt. Paint Like Bob Ross Workshop: Ocean Breeze (Ages 13+) Saturday, February 12 • Join Mathew Halstead, CRI of Lazy Painter Brushworks, for a classic Bob Ross painting workshop with friends at the Alliance. Find freedom on a canvas as Mathew leads you from start to finish through creating the moody ocean scene "Ocean Breeze." Students will take home a finished 16×20 painting. Batique Techniques Workshop (Ages 15+) 3-Day Workshop, February 23 – 27 • This 3-Day workshop is about using the batik (Indonesian style wax resist painting) and rozome (Japanese style batik) wax and dye painting processes to create unique artwork on fabric that can be used on everyday household objects, clothing or works of art! Play with tjaps (Indonesian printing blocks), tjanting tools, brushes, and other waxing techniques so that you have a variety of tools to create artwork that is uniquely yours. Are You Stuck? Workshop (Ages 16+) 2-Day Workshop, February 21 – 22 • Bring in existing paintings that you feel stuck with, or want to improve, or start a new painting in mediums including oil painting with brush, with palette knife, watercolor, pastel or acrylic. Jan Ellen Atkielski, fine artist and popular instructor will help you get "unstuck" or help you create new works in the above mediums.
