Description
WAUKESHA, WI — The School District of Waukesha is considering merging Hadfield and Whittier Elementary Schools for the next school year, according to communication from the district.
The district said student population in Waukesha has been decreasing over the last decade with the trend continuing into the future.
There has also been no increase in state funding which is putting "significant fiscal pressure" on them, the district said.
Instead of spreading out student support and instructional resources across both schools, the district decided to combine them.
The district is holding listening sessions for parents and staff to gather feedback and further explain the plan.
The dates and locations of those listening sessions are directly below.
Monday at 6 p.m. in the Hadfield LibraryThursday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Les Paul Cafeteria A final board decision on the merger will likely come in March.
