MILWAUKEE, WI — Anyone 5 and older who gets their first COVID-19 vaccination at a Milwaukee vaccination site will get a $100 gift card starting Thursday, the City of Milwaukee Health Department announced. The city health department had 1,000 gift cards available on a first come, first serve basis at the city's community vaccination clinics and mobile vaccination clinics, health department spokesperson Emily Tau said in a statement. The following are locations and schedules for Milwaukee's vaccination clinics. Northwest Health Center, 7630 W. Mill Rd.Monday and Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Tuesday and Thursday: 12-6 p.m.Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Southside Health Center, 1639 S. 23rd St. Monday and Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Tuesday and Thursday: 12-6 p.m.Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Menomonee Valley Site, 2401 W. St. Paul Ave. Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 12-6 p.m.Tuesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. People can find locations and times for health centers and mobile clinicson the city health department's website. As of Monday, only 56.5 percent of Milwaukee residents have had at least one dose of the vaccine, leaving 250,000 Milwaukeeans eligible for the money. Health experts agree that getting vaccinated is best way to protect individuals and communities from the spread of coronavirus. "Vaccination remains our strongest tool against the COVID-19 virus," Milwaukee Health Commissioner Kirsten Johnson said. "It is heartbreaking to continue to see people lose their lives to COVID-19 when they could have been protected by the vaccine. We hope that this incentive will help those who are on the fence make the life-saving decision to get vaccinated."
