Friday Classes Canceled At Stamford Public Schools

STAMFORD, CT — Due to inclement weather, Stamford Public Schools have closed on Friday. Heavy rain is expected to transition to freezing rain by early to mid-afternoon in southern Connecticut. The freezing rain will change to sleet in the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service. Up to two tenths of an inch of ice may accumulate in southern Connecticut There have been several closings in recent weeks related to weather. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tamu Lucero, in her weekly message of the district, said last week that some days will have to be made up at the end of the school year. The final day of school is scheduled for June 17, 2022 as a result of closings on Dec. 23, and Jan, 5, 7 and 20, Lucero said last week, but that date could change. "We will update this information in the event inclement weather forces us to use additional days." Read more on Friday's forecast here.
