RIDGEFIELD, CT — Residents voted this week to allocate a portion of the town's American Rescue Plan Act fund to cover the recent purchase of more than 17,000 at home COVID-19 test kits.
The town purchased the kits last month, organizing various distribution events.
The Board of Finance voted to allocate the $344,480 from the town's ARPA fund, and residents approved the purchase at a town meeting Wednesday night.
The move comes as the town's infection level dropped by nearly half, 62 cases reported the week of Jan. 23 versus 109 logged in the previous week, according to data released Thursday by the state Department of Public Health.
As of Wednesday, just over 81 percent of the town has been fully vaccinated.
