RIDGEFIELD, CT — The town's Office of Emergency Management is urging residents to be prepared for sudden and fast-moving storms.
Such weather can result in poor driving conditions and the residents becoming stranded in their cars.
Ridgefield's Community Emergency Response Team, part of OEM, has compiled a checklist of items they recommend you keep in your vehicle:
Full tank of gas, or a completely charged electric vehicleCell phone and portable chargerItems to stay warm such as extra hats, coats, mittens, blanketsMylar blanket/hand/foot warmers/power barsWindshield scraper and shovel/towing cables/pocketknife/universal tool/waterproof matchesBattery-powered radio, flashlight (extra batteries for both)Water/non-perishable snack food (if car is not garaged be mindful of frozen water containers)First aid kit(s) with any necessary medicationsBag of cat litter or sand to help tires get traction, or road salt to melt iceHazard or other reflectors; bright colored or emergency distress flag. Help signs, emergency and/or emergency flares/cones
