Description
NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools are closed Friday in light of the latest weather forecast, which expects temperatures to drop below freezing by midday, creating potentially hazardous travel in the afternoon, according to school officials.
In a post on the Norwalk Public Schools Facebook page, district officials said due to the possibility of flash freezing and icy conditions at both regular dismissal and early dismissal times, a full closure was the safest option based on the information available Friday morning.
"We know unexpected closures are difficult on family schedules," the post reads. "Although we are still in the middle of winter, we join many of you in hoping bad weather avoids our area for the rest of the season, especially on school days! Above all, the safety of students and staff is always our top priority. Thank you for your support. Stay safe, Norwalk."
