MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man is due in court next month in connection with two recent arrests on robbery and weapons charges, according to police. The first arrest stems from an investigation into an attempted robbery in the area of 221 Newfield Street on July 29, according to police. Police said an investigation found that Dezure Rodriguez, 20, assaulted a juvenile female during an attempted robbery before leaving. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Rodriguez on charges of criminal attempt of third-degree robbery, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Detectives from Middletown's Street Crime Unit found Rodriguez on Dec. 22 on Main Street in the area of Ferry Street and placed him under arrest, according to police. During a search, police said Rodriguez was found to be in the possession of a .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine that contained 13 live rounds. He was in possession of crack cocaine, according to police. Rodriguez was additionally charged with possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of an extended magazine, and possession of narcotics. He was released after posting bonds totaling $160,000 with a court date of March 10, according to state judicial records.
