Press release from Office of the Mayor of New York City: February 3, 2022 Download Executive Order 5 By the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of New York, it is hereby ordered: Section 1.  There shall be six Deputy Mayors. One shall be designated the First Deputy Mayor, one shall be designated the Deputy Mayor for Operations, one shall be designated the Deputy Mayor for Economic and Workforce Development, one shall be designated the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, one shall be designated the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives, and one shall be designated the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety.  There shall also be a Chief Housing Officer, a Chief Technology Officer, a Chief Efficiency Officer, a Chief of Staff, and a Chief Counsel to the Mayor and City Hall. § 2.  The First Deputy Mayor shall: § 3.  The First Deputy Mayor hereby is delegated the authority to perform all functions, powers or duties of the Mayor which the Mayor is authorized to delegate in the event that the Mayor is unable to perform such functions, powers or duties for a reason specified in subdivision a of section 10 of the New York City Charter. § 4.  The Deputy Mayor for Operations shall: § 5.  The Deputy Mayor for Economic and Workforce Development shall: § 6. The Deputy Mayor for Public Safety shall: § 10.  The Chief of Staff shall: § 11.   The Chief Counsel to the Mayor and City Hall shall: § 12.  The Chancellor, the Chief Advisor to the Mayor, the Police Commissioner, the Commissioner of Investigation, the Corporation Counsel, and the Director of Communications shall report directly to the Mayor. § 13.  Executive Order 56, dated March 21, 2020, is hereby REVOKED.
