GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Avenue reopened early Friday morning after a portion of the .6 mile stretch was closed due to an underground fire and high carbon monoxide levels, according to the Greenwich Fire Department.

The closure between Elm Street and Havemeyer Place was first reported around 11 p.m. Thursday. The Avenue reopened around 1:50 a.m.

A portion of Greenwich Avenue has been closed late Thursday night due to fire department activity, according to the Greenwich 911 Dispatch Twitter account.
The account tweeted shortly after 11 p.m. that the Avenue is closed between Elm Street and Havemeyer Place.
