WRENTHAM — Wrentham police said they have identified the student/offender they believe is responsible for leaving a threatening note in the boys bathroom at King Philip Regional on Friday. Wrentham police said criminal charges are unlikely at this time after an investigation concluded that the student did not plan to harm anyone, but that the student may face "immediate and appropriate consequences and the King Philip Regional High School Administration." Wrentham police said that while the note did not contain references to specific acts of violence or weapons, it did contain vulgarity and was threatening in nature. A custodian at the school found the note crumpled behind a toilet in the boys bathroom Friday after school was closed. "The Wrentham Police urge parents and students to take a lesson from this incident," Wrentham police posted in a statement. "Understand this type of behavior will not be tolerated regardless of intent or how vague the threat may be. Though an offender/student may or may not avoid criminal prosecution, that does not mean the offense goes away. The offender may still be subject to disciplinary action through the school and will have to deal with the consequences of their action well beyond that." The Wrentham police statement also urged vigilance when it comes to changes in behavior of those around them at home or in school. "Parents need to talk with children, and peers with peers so everyone understands this behavior will not be tolerated," the statement said. "As well, parents and peers should take this opportunity to tune in and recognize people around them who appear to need help, who are acting out of sorts, changing behavior and so on. Denial that a family member or friend might be a threat to themselves or others could lead to a tragedy. Addressing the situation could avoid a tragedy and rescue the person in need."
