LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Health Department will permanently close their COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Dulles Town Center mall on Saturday, Feb. 26. Officials said the clinic would be replaced by a smaller location elsewhere in the county. In Loudoun County, the demand for COVID-19 vaccines has reached its lowest level since 2020, when the shots were first distributed to healthcare workers and high-risk residents. On Feb. 3, approximately 2,000 people around the county received a shot. At the height of vaccine demand in April 2021, around 80,000 vaccine doses were being administered each day. In Loudoun County, just over 82 percent of adults are fully vaccinated. Additionally, 65.5 percent of eligible children in the county are also fully vaccinated. Officials did not specify where the new COVID-19 vaccine clinic would be located. In a news release, they said that more information would be released in the coming weeks. The clinic will continue to offer first, second, and booster shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines until it closes its doors permanently on Feb. 26. The clinic is open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Pharmacies and healthcare providers around the county continue to offer the COVID-19 vaccines. More information about where to find a vaccine or booster shot near you is available online.
