WRENTHAM, MA — The new Wrentham police puppy needs a name. The department is looking for suggestions on what to call the community resource dog it recently acquired through a grant from the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office. "Ultimately, we think the Wrentham Elementary School kiddos will have the final vote, but let's see if the rest of you can guess which name they like," Wrentham Police Chief Bill McGrath posted on the department's Facebook page as he introduced the puppy. McGrath said the as-of-yet-unnamed puppy will soon begin months of training before he begins serving the community as a community resource and comfort dog. The puppy will visit schools, nursing homes and senior center "offering comfort wherever needed." "Whether it be crime victims, people in crisis or any other situation where man's (and woman's) best friend may actually serve better than the human at the other end of the leash," McGrath said.
