Wrentham Police Identify 4 Suspects In Gun-Pointing Incident

WRENTHAM, MA — Wrentham police have identify four suspects in the incident where King Philip students said a gun was pointed at them while they walked along Franklin Street toward campus last month. Police Chief Bill McGrath said the gun was actually a BB gun manufactured to appear as a real firearm and that two suspects have been arrested, while Wrentham police have arrest warrants for two other suspects who remained at-large on Thursday. McGrath said Wrentham police, the KP school resource officer and detectives conducted interviews and reviewed surveillance video from businesses near where the students said someone pointed a gun at them while driving by them as they walked to campus from Dunkin' Donuts. No students were harmed in the incident. KP Superintendent Paul Zinni said the Wrentham Police Department was immediately notified and has begun an investigation. McGrath said there were able to determine the gun involved was a BB gun. "This is one of those many replicas that would fool anyone into thinking it's real, including experienced police officers, which is why those who use them during criminal or hoax activities risk being shot themselves," McGrath said. McGrath said four suspects were identify and arrest warrants were issued for all of them charging assault with a firearm and accosting. Two suspects were arrested on Tuesday in his Boston home, where evidence was collected. McGrath said the investigation remains active and that Walpole police assisted in the investigation.
