Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga: A two-year-old, previously-healthy Great Dane named Quincy died shortly after a six-day stay at the Ark Pet Spa. Upon returning from the spa, Quincy was dehydrated and suffered from breathing issues; her owners were forced to put her down hours later. The incident prompted an investigation into the Ark, though citations of animal neglect were dismissed on a Chattanooga Code technicality. (WTVC)A Southside gallery has built a community of talented artists from underserved backgrounds. The Hart Gallery is comprised of individuals from all walks of life, including those who experience homelessness, have disabilities, and battle mental illness. 60% of sales go to the artist, with 30% going to the gallery for programmatic support and the final 10% to an artist-chosen charity. (WTVC)For the first time in Chattanooga's history, Mayor Tim Kelly has given raises to Head Start workers by augmenting their federal pay with a city supplement. All full-time employees at Head Start and Early Head Start will receive a wage of at least $13 an hour, with part-time employees receiving no less than $11 hourly.
