HOBOKEN, NJ — Several North Jersey school districts, including Hoboken, are closing early on Friday, as the National Weather Service said freezing rain and ice could make for a slippery afternoon commute. The public schools will close at 1 p.m. Friday. A message from the district Thursday night had said, "If the temperatures and icy conditions emerge and the safety of our students and staff is compromised, please be prepared for an early (1 p.m. dismissal)."
