CHATHAM, NJ — All Chatham schools will be dismissed early on Friday due to the forecast for icy conditions. Lunch will not be served at school. The dismissal times are as follows: Chatham High School: 12 p.m. Chatham Middle School: 12 p.m. Lafayette Avenue School: 12:45 p.m.SBS, WAS, and MAS: 12:35 p.m.AM Kindergarten: 8:35 a.m. – 10:35 a.m.PM Kindergarten: 10:35 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.AM Pre-School: 8:40 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. PM Pre-School: 10:40 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.Full-Day Pre-School: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.COVID testing scheduled for this afternoon at CMS from 3 to 4 p.m. is canceled. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Morris County from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. Freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations of a light glaze, according to the National Weather Forecast. This will create very slippery sidewalks, roads, and especially bridges and overpasses are possible. See the upcoming forecast below: Friday: Periods of rain before 2 p.m., then freezing rain between 2 and 5 p.m., then freezing rain and sleet likely after 5 p.m. Temperature falling to around 30 by 5 p.m. North wind around 10 mph. Friday Night: A chance of freezing rain and sleet before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Northwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. Saturday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 27. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 11. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21.
