PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District has been recognized by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association with its 2021 "Exceptional Workplace" award.
Now that the park district has earned the award, it'll be recognized as an exceptional workplace for the next five years, officials said in an announcement Thursday.
"The Plainfield Park District is committed to providing a work environment that is appreciative and dedicated to our team members," Plainfield Park District Executive Director Carlo Capalbo said in a statement. "Continuously keeping in mind our team's well-being and development is a high priority. We want the District to be a place where team members enjoy working and look forward to each day."
Officials were required to answer 48 weighted questions that pertained to the park district's operations and policies. To win the award, the park district had to meet the following criteria:
Have wellness and diversity policiesConduct regular safety trainingSupport continuing education for staffRecognize staff members for achievementsParticipate in team-building exercises The park district was cited for a number of things, including embracing core principles of work/life balance, communication, stability, collaboration, creativity, pride, accountability and openness, according to a news release.
Officials accepted the honor at a 2022 state park district conference held at the Chicago Hyatt Regency Jan. 27-29.
