Press release from the City of Rochester: November 23 2020 Mayor Lovely Warren today announced the following changes to City operations as a result of Governor Andrew Cuomo's announcement that portions of the city of Rochester will be upgraded to a COVID-19 Orange Zone, effective Wednesday, Nov. 25. "We all have an obligation to our community and to each other to wear masks, practice social distancing and comply with the State and County regulations regarding the ongoing pandemic," said Mayor Warren. "The changes we are announcing today are in direct response to Governor Cuomo's designation of portions of our city as an orange zone. Together, by doing the right thing, we can return to normal as soon as possible." R-Center Learning Labs will close on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and nine R-Centers will convert to Meal Distribution Sites beginning Monday, Nov. 30, serving grab-and-go meals. Meals will include breakfast, lunch and dinner and are available for single trips. All meals are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and provided by the Food Collaborative (City of Rochester, RCSD, Foodlink and Common Ground Health). The following Meal Distribution Sites will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday: Adams Street, 85 Adams St. Avenue D, 200 Ave. D Tyshaun Cauldwell, 524 Campbell St. Edgerton, 41 Backus St. Frederick Douglass, 990 South Ave. Flint Street, 271 Flint St. David Gantt, 700 North St. Trenton & Pamela Jackson (Clinton-Baden), 485 N. Clinton Ave. Thomas Ryan, 530 Webster Ave. The Rochester City School District will operate an additional 15 sites at area schools. The Roc City Skatepark will close. In-person programs will be suspended at City R-Centers, including the Learning Labs; Open Recreation; Fitness Centers; Pools; Sports/Rinks; and youth programming. Those with DRHS facilities reservations will have to adhere to a 10-person attendance limit. If you have questions regarding your reservation, contact the Department of Recreation and Human Services permit office at 585-428-6794 or email [email protected] For the latest status on all City operations, visit www.cityofrochester.gov/coronavirus According to the Governor's office, orange zone restrictions require the following: Non-essential gatherings shall be limited to 10 people; Houses of Worship are subject to a capacity limit of the lesser of 33 percent of maximum occupancy or 25 people, whichever is fewer; Restaurants and taverns must cease serving patrons food or beverage inside on-premises, but may be open for takeout or delivery and may provide outdoor service, provided that any one seated group or party must not exceed 4 people; Schools must close for in-person instruction, except as otherwise provided in Executive Order; Certain non-essential businesses, for which there is a higher risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus, shall reduce in-person workforce by 100 percent; such businesses include: Gyms, fitness centers or classes; Hair salons and barbershops; All other personal-care services including, but not limited to, spas, tattoo or piercing parlors, nail technicians and nail salons, cosmetologists, estheticians, the provision of laser hair removal and electrolysis; For businesses and religious worship, the orange zone goes into effect on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
