DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Doylestown man was arrested Wednesday, when police said he tried to enter an occupied school bus and then stole a nearby car. Officers from the Plumstead Township Police Department were called to Swetland Drive and Patriot Ridge Drive for a report of a "suspicious" man on Wednesday morning. When they arrived on scene, they were told the man had entered an occupied Central Bucks School District bus that had stopped to pick up students. "After engaging in a dispute with the bus driver, the male exited the bus and walked away," police reported. Officers were then able to recover surveillance footage from the school bus and identify the man as 39-year-old Anthony Dimichele of Doylestown, based on previous contact. Shortly afterwards, police said they were called to the 3700 block of Swetland Drive after a car had just been stolen from the driveway. An officer said he saw Dimichele driving the car and feeling the area. On Wednesday evening, police recovered the car and took Dimichele into custody at his home "without incident" around 6:30 p.m. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and unauthorized school bus entry. Dimichele was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility, and is awaiting his preliminary hearing. Be the first to know what's going on in Doylestown when you subscribe to Patch.
