1 Stillwater School Named On MN's COVID-19 Outbreak List

STILLWATER, MN — Just one Stillwater school was named Thursday on the Minnesota Department of Health's list of facilities with coronavirus outbreaks. That's the lowest that number has been in more than two months. Three Stillwater schools were included on last week's list, but Rutherford Elementary and St. Croix Preparatory Academy were removed. Stillwater Area High School was the only Stillwater school on Thursday's list. It has been on the outbreak list for many weeks. The Stillwater Area Public Schools district is requiring all students and staff to wear masks after expanding its mandate to the high school last month. Prison Guards Injured During Search At MCF Stillwater The district's board has authorized school officials to lift mask mandates Feb. 14 if cases continue to drop, officials said Friday. Cases within the district have declined steadily since peaking in mid-January, according to weekly case totals from the district. Officials reported 113 cases from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, the district's data show. The COVID-19 data dashboard for Stillwater Area Public Schools shows there have been 1,923 total coronavirus cases among students and staff since the start of the 2021-22 school year. The school board will re-evaluate the district's mask mandate Feb. 17 if cases do not decline next week, officials said. Former Washington Co. Judge Launches Bid For MN Attorney General Just nine Washington County schools were included on the Minnesota Department of Health's most recent outbreak list, down from 26 schools last week. The total number of Minnesota schools on the outbreak list dropped from 468 last week to 249 on Thursday.
