ELMHURST, IL — The two aldermen from Elmhurst's northwest ward say residents have expressed concerns about the lack of lighting along West Avenue near the quarry and railroad tracks.
Earlier this week, Ward 2 aldermen Bob Dunn and Jacob Hill issued a memo asking for the city to look at the issue. They said the concerns were aired at a recent ward meeting and in the past.
The public works department, the aldermen said, has outlined preliminary options for the area. They include installing city-owned light fixtures or having ComEd install lighting on its poles and paying a monthly charge to the utility.
"We would like to examine the value of different lighting options and their costs to determine if an investment is warranted," the aldermen said.
On Monday, the City Council is set to vote on whether to refer the matter to the council's Public Works Committee.
