Bartlett Man Faces Multiple Felony Charges In Elgin Bar Stabbing

ELGIN, IL — A 28-year-old Bartlett man has been charged in a stabbing that took place at an Elgin bar this week and that injured two people. Jason M. Ostrego faces charges of armed violence, aggravated battery and aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, Kane County State's Attorney Jamie Mosser announced on Thursday. Mosser said that Ostrego became involved in an argument at a bar in the 1000 block of North Liberty Street on Monday night and was asked to leave. According to the state's attorney, Ostrego went out into the parking lot and stabbed one person in the chest with a pocketknife and then slashed another person across the face with the same knife. One of the victims remains hospitalized while the other was treated at a local hospital and was released. Ostrego was appeared in court on Wednesday and a judge set his bail at $200,000 with 10 percent needed ($20,000) to apply for bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Mosser said.
