SANDY SPRINGS, GA – A woman in Sandy Springs has rescue teams to thank for pulling her up from a 40-foot ditch Wednesday evening.
A Sandy Springs Fire Department crew and paramedics from American Medical Response were called to help when a woman lost control and drove her vehicle over a metal curb, sending her careening into a 40-foot ravine, fire officials said.
She had inadvertently put the vehicle in forward instead of reversing out of a parking space in a rain-slicked parking lot on Gresham Place, according to WSB-TV.
Emergency crews arrived to find the woman trapped inside her vehicle, authorities said. The Fire Department team on the scene freed the woman and deployed a rope system they keep handy for rescues to pull her to safety, authorities said.
She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
