Location: Riverhead, NY Number of Openings: 1 Position Summary: This position will serve as the Mobile Farm Stand Manager and will oversee the Mobile Farm Stand. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management, organization, and coordination of all aspects of the Mobile Farm Stand. Primary responsibilities include managing all staff and volunteers as per the directions of the Farm Supervisor. This position will provide clerical/administrative support with day-to-day planning, coordination and routine management, including, but not limited to, set up and take down of the Mobile Farm Stand and storing all products. Will coordinate all produce deliveries, pick-ups, etc. from the DPF 4-H Camp farm and other vendors. The Mobile Farm Stand Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the entire mobile farm stand, including, but not limited to: displays, pricing, sales, marketing and operating. This position will also provide education to customers, staff and vendors as it relates to the farm stand products and farm stand management. The position hours will increase during the Farm Stand season. Required Qualifications: - Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Education (High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of transferrable program/functional experience). - Experience relevant to the role of the position. - Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. - Must be able to lift and carry 20-50 lbs. regularly. - Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate. - Must be willing to work in diverse and sometimes challenging weather conditions for long work hours. - Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional tools and methods. - Ability to utilize computers, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and internet communication programs. - Ability to follow through on commitments. - Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations in a calm and effective manner. - Experience working with diverse groups of people. - Teamwork and organization skills. - Self-motivated. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience relevant to the role of the position to include two (2) years of retail experience. - Knowledge of Farm Stand operations. - Skill and/or interest in gardening and/or nutrition. - Experience in Bookkeeping. - Experience in Horticulture/Agriculture. Position Details: This is a temporary, seasonal non-exempt, full-time position, 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $15.00 - $18.00 depending upon experience.
