Description
Every year more than 16 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans. That is the equivalent of a garbage truck load full of plastic dumped directly into the ocean every three minutes. By the year 2050, we estimate that there will be more plastic in the ocean per mass than there are fish. We are facing a crisis of massive proportions that the Earth and humanity has never faced before. The good news is that we are in a position to do something about it. The Fund for the Public Interest is running a campaign with OSPIRG to reduce the amount of plastic pollution we generate by banning styrofoam takeout containers. Styrofoam, scientifically known as polystyrene, is what is known as a βforever chemicalβ. It stays in our environment for hundreds of years after it is used and nothing that is used for a few minutes should pollute our environment for generations. Thatβs where you come in. We are looking for associates to help run our campaign offices. We are hiring Canvassers and Field managers for part and full time positions as well as Directors to lead our offices. Join us in our fight against plastic! Together we can create a plastic free future.
