Seeking female actor/writer

Description
Hello! I am a local Raleigh lady looking for a female volunteer actor/writer or two to help with a Covid-themed documentary theatre project *just for fun/creative outlet (no money involved)*. **Please read this whole thing before you email!** It would entail weekly or biweekly meet-ups, with ongoing work on the project independently (corresponding via email, text, etc.). Looking to begin work asap with the goal to perform over the summer. I have a rough outline for my plan, but I am interested in collaboration, and not being the sole decision maker. Again -- this is just for fun and this is unpaid. The process would be flexible, as I'm just looking to keep up a hobby while also tapping into the hot topic of the past 2 years: Covid. The reason for the topic: there is a serious divide in our community about how to live with or go about life with the virus, and I'm looking to help provide a platform for members of our community to have a voice in it, as an alternative to mainstream media, online videos, podcasts, etc. Looking to approach this theme as humbly and lovingly as possible, and to represent a hearty variety of opinions. Not looking to make this preachy or super political. Live theatre is a wonderful art form that got sidelined along with all of the other performing arts after the pandemic began, but I'd love to help it make a comeback on the small, local level. I think people are hungry for in-person interaction these days especially, so this just adds fuel to the fire. I am new to the Raleigh theatre scene, but the great thing about docu theatre is that its performance can be easily adapted to different venues and for a wide variety of audiences, and can work on basically no budget if needed. I do have some connections with the local live music community, so that might be a good place to start for venue exploration (and a resource for musicians -- if needed). I am not a professional, but I at least have a bachelor's degree in theatre and have experience producing and performing in two documentary theatre projects for a university and the local community. If interested, please shoot me an email and I'm happy to explain more. I'll also include more details below: Since many don't know... WHAT IS documentary theatre? Copied the following summary from Wikipedia, but encourage you to read more to see if it seems like something you'd be interested in. "Documentary theatre is theatre that uses pre-existing documentary material (such as newspapers, government reports, interviews, journals, and correspondences) as source material for stories about real events and people, frequently without altering the text in performance." For an analogy, if mainstream theatre is akin to mainstream news, I'd say docu theatre is more like a podcast. If you are interested in theatre, but also enjoy history, community affairs, journalism, etc. then this may be a fun venture for you. My goal is to make this fun, and not worry about a huge production but try to go about it simply on a low-to-no budget and perform for a small audience. If it goes well, we might decide to try some repeat performances! Some examples of pieces: "The Laramie Project": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Laramie_Project "Fires in the Mirror": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fires_in_the_Mirror "One-Third of a Nation": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-Third_of_a_Nation For more info about documentary theatre in general: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Documentary_theatre The basic process is: -brainstorm ideas to explore within the given subject matter (would be Covid in this case) -find key people in community to interview (from average joes, to subject matter experts, to business owners, etc.) -interview (audio recordings) people in the community -compile a script using only or mostly direct quotes from interviews -write script, nail down venue(s), advertise, rehearse & perform! I feel weird about posting on rusty old Craigslist to the general public in search for creative partners, but apparently people still use this thing -- so hope to talk to you soon!
