Learn all about polymer clay and take home a bottle or switchplate you've decorated! Instructor: Liz W. Ages 14 and up Polymer Clay is an art medium that is known for its versatility, pliability and simplicity to work with. It's used by artists and hobbyists ranging from children to professional artists and movie makers. It stays continually soft and can be baked in a home oven, retaining its color and size. It can be used in an assortment of crafts, including jewelry, home decoration, pottery, scrapbooking and sculpture. Techniques for working with the clay are borrowed from glass-making, metal-working, ceramics, sculpture and textile. In this class you will learn: Best practices for working with polymer clayTechniques for mixing colorsTechniques to add texture How to adhere polymer clay to other surfacesProper baking methodsYou will go home with your own bottle or switchplate cover you've covered and decorated, and with many ideas on how to use this amazing medium! Material list provided so you know what essentials to get if you want to explore more with polymer clay. How to find us: We are in the first floor of the apartment building. Enter the main door and proceed past the elevators. Take the first hallway to the right. Exterior doors lock at 8:30pm. If you are not a member with a door code, please plan to arrive before then. North End Makers is a community that runs a makerspace in North Seattle. We are an all-volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit. Masks and social distancing enforced. IMPORTANT INFO: Refund policy: We currently do not offer refunds or transfers between classes. You may, however, transfer your ticket to another person who is 18 or older. If you need help finding someone to take your spot, you are welcome to post in the class event on our Facebook page or Discord, or ask us to share your email address with the class waitlist. For your personal safety, please wear closed-toe shoes, tie long hair back, and avoid any dangling jewelry or baggy clothing. You do not need to bring a paper ticket. Save a tree. We host learning and making events in the Edmonds/Shoreline area.
