If you have always wanted to learn how to knit, join us for a four week series to learn the basics of knitting. Class is limited to 8 people
Week Beginner’s Knitting Class
Four Week Series, Tuesdays 6:30 pm to 8pm. March 1st through March 22nd

Supplies Needed:
Straight knitting needles – size 7 (4.5mm) or 8 (5mm)
Shorter is better for learning – 9-10” long rather than 14”Wood/bamboo or metal (not plastic)
Worsted weight yarn - wool preferred but a nice acrylic also works
One skein (~100g)Light, solid color Smooth texture (no lumps, bumps, tweed, sparkle, etc.)
Examples: Patons Classic Wool Worsted, Knit Picks Swish Worsted or BravaWorsted weight yarn
– 100% cotton
One ball (~70g)Light to medium solid color
Examples: Pigsah Yarns Peaches & Cream, Lily Sugar’n Cream, Knit Picks Dishie
Knitting ruler (optional, but helpful)
Usually ~6” long, may have needle sizing holes or gauge measuring guide

Knitted cast on
Knit stitch
Week 2:
Cast on and knit stitch review Binding off
Purl stitch
Discussion of knit vs. purl – garter, stockinette
Week 3:
Increases & decreases
Discussion of gauge, yarn weight vs needle size
Week 4:
Introduction to pattern reading
Washcloth project
