Description
WORCESTER, MA — Bus riders in the Worcester area will see a return to normal beginning on June 22.
That's when WRTA will end its coronavirus-era policy of rear-door boarding. Passengers will be asked to board buses at the front door and exit out the rear door. The system's temporary fare suspension will remain in place.
WRTA enacted the rear-boarding policy on March 31 as coronavirus was beginning to increase in the area. The policy sought to keep drivers safe from passengers who may have been carrying the virus.
The new front-door boarding policy is being done to improve air flow on buses, officials said. Riders will still need to wear masks while riding WRTA buses.
