Renowned chef Santana Burriss will guide guests through a multi-course dinner, connecting their palettes with a celebration of some of the best in Black southern art and culture. Your ticket will include the plated meal and two themed cocktails that complement the courses. Please note, capacity for this exclusive experience is limited. About Chef Santana Burriss Chef Santana was born in Charlotte, NC and raised with southern charm in Atlanta, GA. His love of food and flavors come from his childhood that revolved around gathering family and friends together for ordinary dinners, celebrations, and unforgettable moments. He is passionate about creating memories through food and hospitality, and truly believes that cooking tastes better when you do it with love. Throughout Chef Santana’s life, the constant has always been food as a language to show appreciation, and to express his international travel experiences through his culinary talents. COVID-19 PROTOCOL To attend Southern Culture on a Plate, please be prepared to satisfy one of the following: • Bring and show your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or photo of your Vaccination Record Card. • Bring and show proof of a negative lab-conducted COVID-19 PCR or Rapid test. Earliest PCR sample collection date accepted is Sunday, February 13, 2022. Earliest Rapid Test sample collection date accepted is Tuesday, February 15, 2022. The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture is a multi-disciplinary arts institution in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded in 1974 and named for Charlotte civic leader and former mayor Harvey Bernard Gantt, the Gantt Center’s mission is to present, preserve and celebrate excellence in the art, history and culture of African-Americans and those of African descent. Designed by Philip Freelon, co-designer of the new Smithsonian National Museum for African American Art and Culture, the Gantt Center features fine art exhibits from around the world.
