Description

The Fred & Beverly Dukes Concert Series presents on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 4 p.m., the Digital Accordionist, Richard Noel! Richard Noel, originally from Portland, Oregon, is a retired Professor of Psychology from CSU Bakersfield. He played in numerous accordion contests as a youth, culminating in a first-place solo trophy at the American Accordionists' Association contest in New York City at age 18. Playing the accordion has remained a life-long passion. After retiring from teaching, the Roland digital accordion provided the impetus to develop a new career in music. His “Richard Noel” YouTube channel illustrates the versatility of the digital accordion and has attracted 14,000 subscribers and 9 million views. The special sound-sets that he developed, demonstrated, and marketed continue to be the gold standard for Roland owners across the world. These sound-sets allow the digital accordionist to perform almost any genre of music, filling an essential need in the international digital accordion community. Richard has remained in demand as an entertainer at venues as far away as Australia. He plays music from many cultures and genres and is known for his ability to connect with audiences of all ages. When he performs his arrangements of complex orchestral pieces such as “Phantom of the Opera,” listeners are sure to be impressed by the artistic capabilities of this unique instrument.
