MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Continuing Patch's monthly Q&A with Mountain Brook city manager Sam Gaston, readers have focused largely on the city's sidewalks. Sidewalk construction, repair and maintenance were all brought to Gaston's attention in this month's feature. Here are the questions Patch readers had this month for Gaston, and his responses: Is there going to be a Post Office In Mountain Brook Village? If so, where? When? Yes, I was told they will be open by August 15. I understand they have had some issues waiting on the P.O. boxes to arrive. Is there a timeline for our ongoing sidewalk plan? Just curious when it might be headed our way on Old Leeds Road. The current master sidewalk plan was adopted in 2017. We are in the first phase , just completed sidewalks on Dunbarton Drive and hope to start on the Hagood sidewalks in late Fall. Pine Ridge Road from Old Leeds Road to Mountain Brook Parkway is planned for 2022 or 2023. Old Leeds Road sidewalks are in Phase 6 which is many years in the future. Would it be possible to get the sidewalks cleaned up so that we aren't forced to walk in the street while walking and pushing strollers? In particular, on Euclid & Greenbriar - multiple homeowners have let their grass/thorny bushes/plants get very overgrown. It's not that big of a deal, I realize, but just thought I'd ask! Also, the sidewalk is busted up in many areas as well. Can that be fixed? Yes, I will ask our Public Works Dept to check these areas and trim them back. If a resident sees a sidewalk that needs the bushes trimmed or the sidewalk repaired, they should contact the City's Public Works Dept at 802-2390. We do sidewalk repairs on a regular basis. Residents can also contact me about these issues and I will get them to the proper person at our Public Works Dept. I have noticed lots of cars speeding on Montclair Road from the JCC to Ramsey Park. Can MBPD watch for this please? I will let our Police Dept know and ask them to be more present in this area and do additional enforcement. Watch your emails during the last week of each month for Patch's call out to submit a question to Sam Gaston.
